Healthy snacks I can just throw in my purse…?

Main Post:

Any low cal brand or food recommendations I can just leave in my purse for a few days of not more for a snack? Every search result says things like very crushable popcorn, cheese, or fresh fruit that molds over. 90% of the fruit and nut bars are so high in sugar (I have to share with my diabetic dad because he gets hungry too) and calories. I also have various nut allergies to worry about, so it gets hard. I just want to be able to grab something out of my bag and not worry about my dad sugar crashing, or my toddler going into anaphylactic shock....or having it in moldy crumbs.

Can someone help me out?

EDIT: Highly requested that they be shelf stable. I can, have, and will forget about things like fresh fruits in my purse. We have those in the fridge at home :(

Top Comment: Roasted edamame. You can make at home or buy premade ones

What is your favorite snack?

What is your favorite thing to snack on. Chips are always a go to for me. They’re like the meat of all snacks (besides jerky which is literally meat)

Top Comment: Cheese, crackers and salami always hits the spot. Hillshire has little snack trays that are the perfect size, they're like grown up lunchables.

Best snacks to keep full?

Main Post:

I feel like, sometimes, I'll eat something and then get hungry like two hours later. Considering I've been trying to scale back on my calorie intake, I've been looking into snacks to help keep me fuller for longer, especially since I work 12hr nights at a warehouse.

I've been trying protein bars, but those don't feel like the ticket.

Top Comment: I like Abbey Sharp on YouTube. She talks about a “hunger crushing combo” - combining fat, protein and fiber in a snack. I find this really help. Examples include nuts, nut butter on whole grain toast, cheese with a piece of fruit (my go-to when my executive function can’t handle), boiled egg and a piece of fruit or on whole grain bread. I also have a few of the Aldi shakes around. They contain all three and are easy. Not ideal, but I have ADHD and tend to get really impulsive when I’m hungry and hit a drive thru etc, so they are useful and easy for me to prevent that.
